The Electoral College: How Is It Working? Do We Need It?
The League of Women Voters is committed to voter education and increased understanding of our Democracy. Many citizens would like to learn more about the history of the Electoral College. Is it working effectively for American Voters? What effect has it had on U.S. elections historically? How is it effecting our elections now? What was the intent of the Founding Fathers when they established the Electoral College as the method to elect the President of the United States?
We will host a panel of experts: · Diana Dwyre, PhD., Political Science Professor, CSU Chico, · Cynthia Bynoe, Political Science instructor, Butte College · Robert Main, PhD, CSU Chico Professor Emeritus Mahalley Allen, PhD., is the moderator for our program. Ms. Allen is a League of Women Voters member and the Department Chair of Political Science at CSU Chico. There will be time for the League and the public to ask questions of our panelists.
The League will serve pizza, salad & cookies for a donation. The public is welcome.
