North Valley Nut Conference
The Honeybee Discovery Center is collaborating with the North Valley Nut Conference to bring this year’s event to Chico, ADMISSION IS FREE TO REGISTERED ATTENDEES.
Highlights include:
• Louis Mendoza and Marcie Skelton, Agriculture Commissioners from Butte and Glenn Counties, will present a pesticide regulatory update with specific regard to apiaries and bees and information about the BeeWare program and how to participate to ensure coordination of farmers in proper bee population management.
• Information about ways to protect pollinators on the farm, including a cover crop
• demonstration by Cindy Daley, California State University, Chico, Department of Regenerative Agriculture.
• Local beekeeper and past president of the California Beekeepers Association, Buzz Landon will be interacting with bees and discussing ways to safely interact with bees in a live bee demonstration.
• Featured lunch speakers include Carolina Burreson, CEO, Honeybee Discovery Center, Dr. Patricia Stock, Dean of Agriculture at California State University, Chico and Rory Crowley from Project Apis.m. Rory will share information about the Seeds for Bees program and pollinator health management. Lunch sponsored by North Valley Ag Services.
• Up to 4.5 hours of continuing education credit will be earned for farmers, pest control advisors and beekeepers.
