NCB presents The Sleeping Beauty

Come see this classic story come to life, performed by the company of Northern California Ballet, and six guest artists from Eugene Ballet Company. 

The Sleeping Beauty tells the story of beautiful Princess Aurora, the child of King and Queen Florestan. At her christening, six Fairies give blessings and gift to baby Princess. Lilac Fairy, the most powerful of the fairies, promises to protect young Aurora throughout the child’s life. The royal family forgets to invite the evil Fairy Carabosse, which causes her to arrive uninvited to create chaos. To get revenge, she curses the Princess Aurora. The curse proclaimed that on her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. However, the Lilac Fairy saves the day with her kindness and protective powers, proclaiming that Aurora will not die when the prophecy is fulfilled. Instead, the Princess will fall into a deep sleep until she is awakened by true love’s kiss.
