DESCRIPTION:Two 2-hr. virtual sessions: April 11 and 18\, 1-3 pm Practical People Leadership Series Being a manager can be intimidating. Practical People Leadership is designed to introduce supervisors and managers to the fundamentals of leading people. Throughout the series\, we will explore the importance of self-awareness\, communication\, and coaching skills in leadership. Participants will learn a practical and flexible leadership model that can help to improve their ability to lead. By the end of the series\, participants will have a better understanding of their leadership style and strengths\, as well as areas for improvement. This course is perfect for anyone who is new to a leadership role\, or who aspire to become a leader. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds and industries who want to develop their leadership skills and make a positive impact in their organization. Practical People Leadership 1 (2 hours) Part 1 is focused on learning a flexible leadership model designed to improve the ability to lead in any situation. When managers understand this simple model\, they develop a self-awareness and confidence to handle even the most intimidating situations. Leaders emerge feeling equipped to lead with practical\, effective responses that meet the needs of their people. Practical People Leadership 2 (2 hours) Part 2 take the learning into practice. This interactive session uses case studies\, role-play exercises\, and real examples from participants to diagnose and apply the skills of a practical people leader. This virtual session is most effective when attendees can log in from a quiet private setting so they can fully participate in the exercises. Instructor Jamie Grettum draws on her experience as a Director-level manager in tech start-ups and large corporate environments to offer practical consulting and training to organizations. Jamie's passion is helping individuals in workforce development programs improve skills and open doors for advancement. A common thread across all her courses is increasing the quality and frequency of conversations between leaders and followers.
